History trail: Railway Corridor (Central)
Experience the enchanting Rail Corridor, a sprawling 24-kilometre green passage from Kranji to Tanjong Pagar. Divided into three sections – Northern, Central, Southern – the Central section features several historical elements with iconic steel bridges, tracks, and the meticulously preserved Bukit Timah Railway Station. The station's architectural grandeur, now transformed into a heritage gallery, unveils the fascinating history of the Rail Corridor. Towards the front of the building, you will discover additional restored elements, including station signs, token poles, and replicas of railway station wagons that were once in service on the tracks. If you’re feeling hungry, you’ll be delighted to know that there’s a pretty hidden cafe in the wilderness. Opened recently, 1932 Story is a retro train-themed hideout with tongue-in-cheek touches like a ticketing booth for a table and a railway timetable at the door. Pop in for a full lunch or a simple tea time snack. A tip for you – start your journey early as the trail is not well-lit after sunset.
